The Alchemists
Imagine a movie that, for the first time ever, pulls the curtain back to reveal a small group of individuals you've probably never heard of, but who undoubtedly changed your mind and your behavior...

The colourful, sexy and intriguing work of fashion photographer Miles Aldridge, will keep your eyes glued to the screen. Make sure you check out all the work in the archives too. In addition the work is showcased in a really sleek flash site. Love it.

Amid all the ugliness, randomness and flashing backgrounds that might give you a seizure, there’s something enticing in there that I can't explain. I tried to make mine as ugly as possible, but I had to give up as I just didn't have the skills.
Here is zefrank taking about ugly myspaces and I wouldn't recommend having a myspace page if you're going for a job interview.

If the world's population were reduced to 100, it would look something like this... Miniature Earth.

David Ellis lives and works in Brooklyn; where his "motion paintings" travel through time like music, where beats are orchestrated and performed on "drum paintings" stretched and tuned to bass, snare, etc...

Acclaimed artist of the guerrilla and street art scene, Banksy, has pulled another stunt this time on Paris Hilton. 500 copies of her debut album have been remixed and revamped in 48 record shops across UK.
Check out the shots on flickr and the video on youtube.
It’s funny because it’s true!

On September 9, 2006, 112 of the world's great minds will come together around the world's largest table in Berlin. They will answer 100 questions chosen out of thousands donated by the global public.
"Dropping Knowledge is a global initiative to turn apathy into activity. By hosting an open conversation on the most pressing issues of our times, we will foster a worldwide exchange of viewpoints, ideas and people-powered solutions"
...whether they will achieve anything is another Question.

Photography by Zoren Gold and Minori. Mi-Zo pushes the boundaries of photography, mixing photography with other mediums such as drawing, collage, hand-made props and computer graphics. Amazing work.

UK designer Richard Sweeney's 3-dimensional sculptures are made from the most ordinary of materials: plain old paper. The intricately folded forms are absolutely striking in their clean symmetry and the shadows cast by the curves and crevices. You can stare with jaw-dropped awe at most of his paper sculptures at his flickr page. Geometry has never looked so good...

Finally... after a very impatient wait (yes patience is not one of my virtues) Styleboost is back. All CSSed-up, XHTMLized and packed with Web2.0 stuff. Hmmm... I'm still undecided about the redesign. I think I like it, but it's going to take a bit getting used to the new design. Anyhow it's still showcasing outstanding websites since 2001.

Recently I came accross an article in Design Melt Down about the use of columns in websites and to my surprise my Vahagn Art Gallery website was mentioned as an example of creative use of columns.
"One of the most creative usages of columns from this set can be found on the Vahagn Art Gallery site. They have only a tiny amount of copy and they render each set in it's own distinct column..."

If you dream of the day when the microwave oven meets an ugly demise, you'll love the theme of Electrolux Design Lab '06 competition. The challenge this year is to design food preparation and preservation appliances that would help the consumer of 2016 "change bad eating habits to healthy eating habits." So, goodbye microwave, hello... whatever it is you raw foodies need in the kitchen.

Police in Germany are hunting pranksters who have been sticking miniature flag portraits of George W. Bush into piles of dog poo in public parks.
"This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2,000 to 3,000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that time," said Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth."

On April 15, 2006 they went to a remote sound studio outside of Las Vegas... They took a Phantom V5 military digital camera... That captures 4000 still images per second... Then they tuned it on Tiger Woods. Why? To capture the greatest golf swing of our generation of course!

Born in 1960, Jean-François Lepage started working in fashion photography in 1980.
His work uses emotive lighting, and creates an edgy sense to his photography which many believe to be an influence from his days spent painting and drawing. His photographs exude the quality you would expect from a world class fashion photographer but with hints about his work that an artist can only produce...
To sum it up it's very sexy indeed. See it at two eyes and Lepage portfolio.
